Add moviemaking to the long list of skills that young men can learn as members of the Boy Scouts of America.

This past Saturday, Scouts from the Greater Los Angeles Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America earned Moviemaking Merit Badges at Warner Bros. Studios as part of a day-long event about what it means to be a cinematographer, grip, gaffer, camera operator, focus puller, and more.

CreativeFuture co-hosted the event, which was sponsored by Warner Bros. Studios, and partnered with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to bring creative professionals from behind the scenes to talk to the Scouts about their careers.

The Boy Scouts toured the Warner Bros. lot and Stage 48 – the new interactive exhibit showcasing the processes involved in screenwriting, casting, audio mixing, and more. The Scouts also had the chance to storyboard and film their own short movie.

Video footage of the Moviemaking Merit Badge Day will be presented at the National Scouting Conference in May and will be shown nationwide to teach Scouts about the opportunities and creative careers in moviemaking.
