At last night’s Academy Awards®, Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out won the Oscar® for best animated feature. Director Pete Docter accepted the award on behalf of the Inside Out team and proceeded to deliver what was – at least for us – the best acceptance speech of the evening:

“Anyone out there who’s in junior high, high school, working it out, suffering — there are days you’re going to feel sad. You’re going to feel angry. You’re going to feel scared. That’s nothing you can choose. But you can make stuff. Make films. Draw. Write. It will make a world of difference.

We couldn’t agree more. Creativity is the cultural fabric of our world. At CreativeFuture, we believe the next generation deserves the opportunity to pursue creative careers.

We are working with our members and educators to bring workshops and career development sessions to K-12 schools and universities that promote creativity in the classroom and beyond. We’ve partnered with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) to bring creatives into schools and speak to students about what they do for a living.

Members of creative communities do a wonderful job creating the “magic” that brings to life movies, TV shows, music, games, and books. Our partnership with IATSE shows students that there are people working behind the scenes to create this magic – in real creative jobs.

Below, you can find a video highlighting our visit to a school in New Orleans, where we teamed up with IATSE to show kids the “magic” that they can make in creative careers.
